I was wondering this myself? I am willing to go to therapy. Can it really help? I don’t understand emotions very well. Not that I don’t get angry or excited. My lack of emotions is definitely weighing on my wife of 15 years. She was always understanding and trying to help me. But lately she seems to be getting worn out.
Same boat but worse off, but my wife of 28 years told me we are separating 7 weeks ago and kicked me out of the house to get space. A few days and a lot of reading later the sudden realization occurred that I'm toxic and very likely functioning like an alex. My parents, wife and kids, and friends have all shared stories to validate this [and i hadn't even shared the topic with them yet].
My estranged wife, in hindsight, has been a most loving, gracious, caring, patient person and I the brutal oaf. Our kids have serious emotional issues to deal with because of me.
I am in therapy, [2 sessions only], but no serious investigation yet nor remarkable change.
